Ever since U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin stated that he debated about Gaza’s future during his visit to Israel, people were suddenly drawn towards his religion and ethnicity, and now a question has arisen about whether he is Jewish or not. 

Born on August 8, 1953, in Mobile, Alabama, Lloyd James Austin III is an African American retired four-star general.

Austin also served as the 12th commander of United States Central Command (CENTCOM).

Additionally, he was the only African American to be vice chief of command and commander of United States Forces- Iraq.

With his long experience in military force, he eventually hired as a Secretary of Defense on January 22, 2021, and is still serving in the position. 

As a Defense secretary, he recently had a meet-up with Israeli officials in which he stated that he showed his concern over Gaza and Gaza’s citizens.

As a result, it arouses curiosity about his religion among people as they start thinking if Lloyd Austin belongs to the Jewish community.

Details On Lloyd Austin’s Early Life And Education 

With a better understanding of Lloyd’s family background, it will be easy to determine his religion and ethnicity.

Raised by a devoted Catholic mother in Thomasville, Georgia, Lloyd followed his mother’s religion.

Likewise, as for education, he graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point.

There, he earned a bachelor’s degree in science in 1975, played rugby, and ran track in the academy. 

Later, he earned a Master’s in counselor education from Auburn University’s College of Education in 1986. 

He also achieved a Master of Business Administration in Business Management degree from Webster University in 1989.

Moreover, he graduated from the Infantry Office Basic and Advanced courses, the Army Command and General Staff College, and the Army War College. 

Lloyd Austin’s Journey From Military Officer To Defense Secretary

After graduating from West Point, Lloyd was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Infantry. 

Further, he received his initial assignment in Germany with the 3rd Infantry Division as a rifle platoon leader. 

Later, he was recruited as a scout platoon leader and company executive officer in the 1st Battalion, 7th Infantry. 

Following his previous assignments, the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, assigned him to their unit. 

Meanwhile, in March 2003, Lloyd helped lead the 3rd Infantry Division’s invasion of Iraq.

Leading the fight from the front, the division reached Baghdad and secured the city after traveling 500 miles from Kuwait. 

After working in different ranks, the country promoted Lloyd to General.

Upon promotion, he became the Army’s 200th four-star officer and the sixth African American in the U.S. Army to achieve the top rank.

Moreover, Lloyd also served as the United States Central Command and as the commander of CENTCOM before his retirement in 2016.

Later, he was elected as the Defense Secretary during the presidency of U.S. President Joe Biden. 

His contribution to the country is beyond explanation, and now, he is in the hospital battling cancer. So, let’s pray for his fast recovery.
