Shortly after Nostradamus' prophecy about 2024 seemingly manifested with a devastating 7.5 magnitude earthquake in Japan on New Year's Day, another ominous sign has surfaced. A rare oarfish, often dubbed the "doomsday fish," was captured in the Andaman Sea near Thailand. According to Japanese folklore, the appearance of this giant sea creature in shallow waters is considered an indication of an impending earthquake or tsunami.

The fears were intensified as local residents expressed concern, with one noting that encountering an oarfish near Satun could signal an earthquake along the Andaman coast, potentially accompanied by a tsunami.

"If encountering an oarfish in the vicinity of Satun, it may indicate a potential concern for an earthquake along the Andaman coast," said local resident Boomerange, Metro UK reported. "And there could be a tsunami as well."

Marine ecology lecturer Thō̜n Thamrongnāwāsawat emphasized the unusualness of catching oarfish, adding a warning that their surfacing is associated with seismic activity.

"The Andaman Sea is deep, with depths of up to 2,000 metres in Thailand. However, oarfish are not typically caught, as people generally don’t fish in deep waters," he said, Metro UK reported.

Issuing a warning, he added, "It looks like an oarfish. Oarfish, nicknamed the 'earthquake fish', is a deep-sea fish. When it surfaces, earthquakes often occur. With the sea in turmoil, be ready to face natural disasters."

The last sighting of this mysterious fish occurred in July 2023 off the coast of Ruifang in Taiwan, where divers noticed the shimmery silver creature with mysterious holes in its body.
