Resident Evil 3 is all about Jill Valentine’s journey. It’s fitting, then, that Capcom have added in a PlayStation 4 trophy, or Xbox One and Steam achievement, that pays tribute to their own character.
The Jill Valentine trophy isn’t an easy one to unlock though. You’ll have to put in plenty of work to obtain it, including multiple playthroughs and using certain cheats. This guide will give you tips on how to get your hands on it.
What is the Jill Valentine trophy in Resident Evil 3?
The Jill Valentine trophy, or achievement, can’t be obtained until you unlock the Inferno difficulty level. As such, it’s a gold PS4 trophy, and a rare Xbox One or Steam achievement.
The description states that players must complete the game with an S rank on Inferno. That means you have to get the highest rank possible, on the hardest difficulty, within a two-hour window and with less than five manual saves. Hey, we did say this wasn’t easy.
To unlock Inferno difficulty, you must beat the game on Hardcore to unlock Nightmare mode. You have to complete the game in Nightmare mode to unlock Inferno mode.
How to unlock the Jill Valentine trophy in Resident Evil 3
Now you know what you’re up against, you might be thinking twice about earning this trophy or achievement. Fear not, though, as we’re here to provide some helpful hints to guide you through this.
As you’ll have beaten the game—at least two times—by now, you’ll have access to the shop. You can spend points here to unlock new items and weapons, which are vital in helping you attain this trophy.
Make sure you grab the Infinite Rocket Launcher, two Recovery Coins, two Iron Defense Coins, two Hip Pouches, and the S.T.A.R.S Field Combat Manual. These will help you kill enemies with one hit apart from Nemesis, automatically heal you, ensure you take less damage, start you off with more inventory slots, and make it easier for you to dodge.
You’ll need 96,400 points to unlock all of this, so ensure you have enough from completing in-game challenges first.
The only other thing to be aware of is if you die. You have to complete Inferno mode with less than five manual saves. If you do die, don’t hit “Continue” as this will count towards your time limit and you may go over two hours by the end of this playthrough.
Instead, reload your last manual save from the menu. This resets your time. You might have to replay a section again, but it’s better than missing out on this trophy and achievement by hitting “Continue” too often. You can use this tactic if you take too long on a specific part of the game too. Use your manual saves tactically as well, such as after a tricky area or boss fight.
Use those cheat items and follow these rules, and you should get S rank on Inferno difficult within two hours. Once you do, the Jill Valentine trophy or achievement will pop.
