Ontario teen arrested, charged with attempted murder in Dec. 29 shooting incident

On Jan. 1, 2024, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Ontario Police, with assistance from the Oregon State Police and the Malheur County Sheriff's Office, arrested 18-year-old Gunner Ray Hernandez of Ontario, Oregon.

The arrest occurred at 998 Fortner Street in Ontario and is related to the shooting incident from Dec. 29, 2023, which left a juvenile male critically injured with a gunshot wound to the head.

Hernandez was charged with Attempted Murder, Assault in the First Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, Unlawful Use of a Firearm, Recklessly Endangering Another Person and Tampering with Evidence. Additional charges may follow depending on further investigative developments.

The victim, a juvenile, has been upgraded to stable condition.

Both Hernandez and the driver of the white sedan, the other involved vehicle, were charged with Criminal Mischief 1 relative to restitution for damages.

The driver of the other vehicle, 28-year-old Raul Herrera Ramos Jr., transient, was charged with Attempting to Elude Police, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Failure to Perform the Duties of a Driver, Criminal Mischief 1, Reckless Driving, Recklessly Endangering Another Person and had multiple warrants for his arrest.
